The midfield passenger corridor is an important part of the midfield expansion plan of Hong Kong International Airport to cope with the growing passenger demand and maintain Hong Kong's position as a regional and international aviation hub. The completion of the project is also a major achievement of the Hong Kong Aircraft Administration, preparing for the development of the three runway system.
The midfield passenger corridor is located in the west of Terminal 1, between the existing two runways, with five floors, covering an area of 105000 square meters, and the floor height is similar to that of Terminal 1. Among the 20 parking stands set, 19 are equipped with boarding bridges, including two parking stands that can accommodate code F (A380). Passengers can use the expanded automated rapid transit system (APM) to go to Terminal 1.
The midfield passenger corridor has been fully put into operation, handling about 230 flights every day, and receiving an additional 10 million passengers every year.
